Hi
I am looking for a company who sells a glaze called hobbit blue. It
is my understanding that it comes in red and green as well. Did I miss the
post as to where I can get a bison tool? Thanks, Dawn

Laguna Clay bought Miller Clay, which made Miller Masterglazes, a good
selection of well designed cone 6 glazes. There is Hobbit blue, Hobbit
green, and I believe Hobbit Brown, or hazel maybe? There are also other
glazes in this series Marsh Grass, Cafe au Lait, and cinnamon are my
favorite.
They also make a beautiful matt, light blue glaze, I forget what it is
called though. It has a neat crystal-ish sheen.

These glazes have basically kept me from making my own glazes. There are
somewhere around 25 different glazes. They are truly well designed glazes
as far as I can see. They are also fairly economical. Somewhere between
$1, and $2 a pound. They don't flake off prior to firing, and don't
require additions of bentonite, etc to stay in suspension. Almost all of
them form a nice pudding gel.

I bought a lb of each to see what I liked, as laguna didn't seem to have
color sheets of these glazes when I was looking. So if you have any
questions I can dig through my test tiles, and maybe e-mail a digital
image. I tested most of them with a couple of different clays, red, and
grey.

I know a couple Laguna people monitor this list, so maybe they will
contact you.
