This came from archives....from Toni Martens, Durban South Africa

Burke's Celadon-a faux celadon is oxidation-cone 5-6

feldspar-potash-any kind seems ok 58
whiting 17
flint-I use 305 mesh silica 14
ball clay 6
Zinc oxide 5

the original calls for 1% copper oxide which makes a strong turquoise that
is too much for me.....
a better solution is 0.25% copper carbonate

fast fire-glossy
slow cooling-frosty matt
additional firing in 06 bisque...really interesting-but I don't really
believe in refiring over and over...you either do it right the first time,
or do tests until you can......
other colorants...takes a very small amount...with blue...start out with
0.10% cobalt carb...add ocher and rutile to soften the blue....eats high
zinc over-dips like Alisa's frosty....but lots of others do well...
nice pumpkin color, yellow, and just basically takes stains well...just
start out with a little bit. Ron Roy black over it does not bleed, and
makes a nice line....just play around...at least it's cheap. A wonderful
bone results from rutile and ocher...Mason stain gollden ambrosia looks
nice....

Settles in the bucket, but does not hardpan, and I keep a toilet brush in it
all the time, as I use it a lot, and it doesn't take much to stir it up. I
tried a little bentonite, but you don't need it....I do add a little
dissolved epsom salts, just to try and help, but again...it doesn't
hardpan....

Works great in reduction at same temp...smooth glossy, less color, but so
nice, and doesn't turn any copper red...so same, same
My advice...use a new bucket....it seems like any chrome that might even
drift by a mile away find it's way in and you get a glob...so, just take
care to sieve the first time you mix, and then don't contaminate, and you'll
love it....
I think it's a great basic glaze to make a staple in a glaze
pallette....just my 2 cents....I am having major problems with availability
of materials, and the bottom fell out of what I have worked so hard to
create...well, that's another post.....Please let me know what your results
are...I would be very interested.......Melinda Collins, Antigua, Guatemala
