THE BEST WAY I HAVE FOUND TO CENTER IS TO USE SOFT CLAY, HAVE THE CHAIR =
A LITTLE HIGHER THAN THE WHEEL, BRACE YOUR LEFT ELBOW INTO YOUR HIP AND =
LEAN ON THE CLAY. USE ONLY THE LOWER PART OF THE PALM OF LEFT HAND SO =
THAT THE ARM BECOMES A STICK, IN OTHER WORDS, YOU AREN'T USING THE HINGE =
AT THE ELBOW OR AT THE WRIST. BECAUSE THE BODY IS ABOVE THE WHEEL YOU =
JUST HAVE TO LEAN INTO THE CLAY, WITH THE INTENT TO PUSH THE CLAY OFF OF =
THE WHEEL. PUSH DOWN AND THROUGH THE WHEEL, FIGURATIVELY SPEAKING.

I HAVE A LITTLE PET PEEVE. THE CERAMIC SUPPLY COMPANIES SELL CLAY THAT =
IS TO HARD. WHEN THE CLAY IS TO HARD POTTERS STRUGGLE TO CENTER. WHEN =
THEY STRUGGLE TO CENTER THEY GET (CARPEL TENDRIL) (SPELL)IN THE ARMS.
