The hotels closest to the convention center are a bit pricey.
I work in Downtown San Diego, & have a pretty good feel of walking
around down there.
The closest is the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, almost attached to
the center.
The Clarion Hotel Bay View is probably next closest, across the street,
and about a block or two away.
A couple of blocks further west is the Embassy Suites Hotel San Diego
Bay.
The Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego is about =BD mile away.=20
The Westin Horton Plaza is in the center of the Downtown shopping & is
about a mile from the center.
Any hotel in the Gaslamp area is within reasonable walking distance, as
long as it=92s south of Broadway, and west of about 10th st.
The San Diego Trolley runs through Mission Valley in San Diego. It
stops directly across street from the Convention center & the hotels
there can be more affordable. Some of the =93Hotel Circle North=94 =
locations
will have almost direct access to Trolley Stops. =20
The Stardust, Red Lion Bali Hai, Town and Country Resort Center,=20
Many can be found at http://gothere.com/sandiego.htm=20
If you=92re renting a car, you can stay almost anywhere in the county & =
be
about =BD hour form the convention center=85 as long as you avoid rush
hours, that is.
I=92ll be glad to answer any questions about the area.
Enjoy your stay. Sorry if the weather is so boring here with almost
constant sun, lack of rain & almost constant moderate temperatures

Remember that when NCECA gets closer to it's time, they usually have
negotiated for a "block" of rooms at a discount price, you just have to
get on them fast, because they go quickly.
BTW, San Deigo weather sounds like ours, just bump it up 50
degrees.......
