Glaze test for Brown Persimmon, cone 6 radix, fired to cone 6 ox.

Glaze tested on white midrange stoneware fired in electric oxidation to =
1220c.

Recipe:
37.63 Silica
21.51 Neph. Syenite
16.13 Whiting
13.98 EPK
10.75 Gerstely Borate

Note: All raw materials are measured up or down to the nearest whole =
decimal. =20
Colorants or additives to a 100 gram test batch are measured in percent =
to the 100 gram test batch.

Substitutions:
Borax frit for Gerstely Borate

Results:
Reddish brown covering gloss glaze. Dark and even in color, very smooth =
feel. More brown than red, a brown gloss with a rust tinge. =20
Glaze was applied thickly in areas and did not move. Very even melt and =
color is very rich and warm. One of the nicest I have tested in the =
persimmon families.

This looks like it could be a stable glaze - expansion is a bit high so I
have lowered it a bit using MgO and also used frit 3134 instead of GB. It
has a low expansion without the iron so test it for fit if you use it that
way.
