I'm the recipient of supplies from a departed potter's studio. I found a
container of cobalt sulphate. Any info from anyone?
Thanks,

Sulfates are very dangerous because they are soluble. You must handle them
with gloves and I suggest a mask as well. For an view of how this material
is used to its potential see Kurt Wilds web page, he is the master:

You can do an open pit firing brush the sulfate on in patterns or abstracts
and if you get some copper sulfate it will turn pink and the iron sulfate is
gold and of cause the cobalt is blue...Ilene in Conn..mix in water a little
goes a long way

Thanks for the compliment. There is further information in an article I
wrote published in the just out issue of Pottery Making Illustrated.

Mixed in water, then used as a rim dip or brushed on
bisque (under a glaze), sulphates give a soft blurry
edge which can work in different ways from oxides. Try
it.
