a soda ash question

Hello all,

Question: if I brush a soda ash & water solution on two surfaces that touch
each other during a cone 8 oxidation firing, will they stick together? I am
thinking that they will slightly, but may be tapped apart. I have only used
soda ash before on the outside of pots.

I am getting ready to hi-fire my enlarged lotus seed pod, which has all
these seeds, each in their own cells, and while they have been slipped with
barnard clay to darken them, I am thinking of doing some soda ash as well,
and perhaps some sponging of other oxides, for variation. But the seeds
need to be moveable after the firing.

Thanks,
Ann Brink in CA

Ann -
At cone 8, the mix of the barnard clay and the soda ash will likely make a
nice juicy glaze.
