there are four kinds of plaster available from the pottery supply here.
Regular all purpose plaster
Hydrocal, a hard plaster
Ultracal, a harder plaster
Hydrostone, the hardest plaster.
(that's how it describes them in the catalogue)
I think I'd go with the hardest one if I was putting on a counter - in the
hopes it would last longer.
