At a recent seminar, we watched Warren McKenzie facet his bowls and =
teapots.
Depending on your degree of precision you favor, it goes
quickly and is not complicated. He used a potato peeler, the type that =
is all metal
and faces outward when you hold it. He swipes down once on wet pots and =
then one
more time in the middle of the facet to get a slightly textured effect =
in the center of the
facet. I would say the thing to be careful of is not do dig too deeply =
as to go through the side.
Even if you do, the pot is still so wet that you can easily patch it. =
Clay is like that.
Jane Sawyer (Australia) used the same potato peeler to "foot" some of =
her leather hard pots. It
gives them a multi sided foot.
I am still looking for the right peeler and then I will try it myself.
