and revised Sept. 15 - 02
Hi,
I'm back from my travels. Had a wonderful time meeting other clay lovers and
clay workers: Ralph Stuckman in Ohio and his wife Janie - very hospitable folks;
Ellen Marks likewise, also of Ohio, who invited Kelly AKA Primalmommy and
clayarter Joyce to a great get-together; and, back in Canada, Rob Tetu, the
consummate thrower, and his wife Cora were most welcoming.
More later, but meanwhile I've got a few urls ready for you.

Here are Two specialized search sites:
1.
"Art in Context" (Specific to Art)
Art in Context Center for Communications
http://www.artincontext.org/index.htm
http://www.artincontext.org/listings/images/discipl/ceramics.htm
"(...A)n online reference library for the publication and dissemination of
information about artists and here to find their work. The library catalogues
and presents information added by curators, dealers, artists, writers and others
from around the world."
Although ceramics offerings are limited to sculpture, it seems a worthy site.
It is apparently to be upgraded in the not-too-distant future.
Includes 3 pieces by Ruth Duckworth.
2.
"AlltheWeb" (General Topics)
http://www.alltheweb.com/
http://www.alltheweb.com/search?cat=img&cs=iso-8859-1&q=pottery
A sophisticated search engine, that can be used for simple or complex searches.
But even with the advanced search, there may be more "hits" than enough.
Try using all the choices to add terms or eliminate unwanted terms.
I found some new ceramics sites I liked using this site, but I still prefer
Google, especially for image searches.
Note that both sites may give numerous retail "hits."
