cooling rates for rutile/temmoku

My new kiln seems to cool slower than others I have used. This has been
great for my temmoku glazes, but my rutile isn't faring so well. I know from
past experence that the rutile glaze likes a fast cool to get the richer
purpley blues. So my question is does anyone know what temp those blues
develop? Can I cool slowly while the crystles develop in the temmoku then
faster for the rutile blues? or to they happen too close to the same
temprature? This is cone 10 stoneware.

Hi Sarah,
You may find it helpful to make several draw rings of each glaze and
withdraw them at intervals during cool-down. I found that my rutile blue
doesn't develop any color until about 1600 F on the cool-down.
