paragon kiln tnf-283 wiring

This is my first time posting. Been lurking many months and have learned a
great deal. I have been looking for me a kiln for the past six months or
so and was just fortunately enough to find a used kiln from a community
college (Paragon TNF-283). The only problem it is a 3 phase 208. I spoke
with Parqagon and they informed me that it could be changed to a single
phase 220 with changing the elements (need changing anyway)and changing the
wiring. They also faxed me the diagrams for this kiln. My question is
that in looking at the diagram of the two different types of wiring it is
still not clear. Does anyone have a diagram or something that explains the
wiring change. I have a friend who is a electrician that will be assisting
me, but I just want to make sure that the rewiring is correct without
question. Also when I picked up the kiln it had a new set of elements in
it from Paragon for 3 phase 208 that had not been installed. Anyone here
that might could use them let me know. E-mail me at njw02@hotmail.com

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Wayne, converting the TnF-28-3 3 phase 208 v. to single phase 240
v. involves mostly a change of elements and the way the relays are
wired. This is for standard versions of this model.

However, there are many specialty versions. I would check the 10
digit number of your wiring diagram. It should match the 10 digit
number on the kiln's data plate.

What will you be firing? If you are firing to cone 6 - 10, you
might consider using mercury relays and heavier amperage. This will
be more expensive, though.

If you have more questions, you could call 800-876-4328 and ask for
Brenda.

Good luck with your project!
