bonehead runner up, and chronicle of a kiln part vii

Sometimes, folks, it's good to be a bonehead. I've
been going through a bit of a "f@#k it" period lately,
and that was my attitude when firing my gas kiln for
the seventh time yesterday. No joy, no excitement,
just plodding along. So, of course I didn't make the
conepacks in advance, and the top one blew up the
first hour of firing. Okay, fine. I can never see the
packs anyway. Then my propane runs out in the seventh
hour. Again, okay fine, I had no clue what cone I was
at anyway. I opened the kiln today, and got a stunning
load of copper reds! I've been trying for months to do
this! The key for me? A kickass kiln goddess, a bad
attitude (which has since been remedied by the lush
strawberry toned pots) and an inability to plan ahead.
I would have overfired this puppy, and probably fired
down, negating the lovely gloss. Woohoo! Boneheads
rule! Later, Jules
