> Can a claybody be mixed like a glaze or must a pugmill be used...

Evan -
Locate of a copy of the September/October 2001 issue of Claytimes magazine.
In my Tooltimes column I give the complete rundown on how to set up a very
efficient claymixing operation for very little money and without any
expensive mixer or pugmill. It involves a heavy-duty 1/2" electric drill
(the most expensive part of the setup) with a large mixer-impeller
attachment to mix clay as a slurry. It works great, and produces very
plastic clay.
Best wishes -

Lay yer clay slurry out on a large cotton sheet or
canvas on a slab of concrete (you can also frame it
with 1x4 nailed together and drape the cloth). Let it
set up to a decent consistency. Take the frame out of
the picture and fold the clay over a couple of time
like you was kneading dough. Take yer shoes (and
socks) off. Step into the clay and knead it with yer
feet to desired consistency. Package it up for storage
as you will.
Works at the pueblo...nezbah when i find the foto i'll
