Dear Myersaw,
If your glaze is the same colour as your claybody it can be a bit tricky,
try a few drops of food colouring, then you can see where you have been.
Best Wishes
Pat..

1. Always be SURE your spray gun is spraying. I spray a wall in front of
my wheel (on which my pot is placed and which spins while I spray) to check
and be sure glaze is coming out adequately. Sometimes if I'm not sure, I
spray my hand.
2. When I spray white I spray till it is fuzzy looking. When I spray blue
I spray till it is fuzzy looking (it is pale lavender and hard to see).
When I spray green I can see the glaze and how much build up has occurred.
3. I do A LOT of spraying.

using my cheapo banding wheel which is on a small pedestal, i stick a "post-it"
on the underside of the wheel head. it hangs down so i can see it. that's my
starting point. then i count rotations as i spray. with terra sig, usually 3 is
a good covering. with glazes, depending on thickness, it could be 3-5
rotations.

If the problem relates to spraying one glaze over another that are both
white, you may want to add a little tempra paint to one of the glazes so that
you can tell where you have been.
The thickness issue comes with experience. Counting revelations can help if
the viscosity of your glazes remains the same from one session to the next.
Keeping the water at the lowest possible level and still being able to spray
will keep the defects down.
Like anything else the better the spray equipment that you can use, the
better the results.
I like to use a gun that has a pressurized pot. It feeds the gun glaze. That
allows the fluid to spray on the pot with less air moving through the gun.
Less glaze is wasted, because there is less overspray, and there is less air
blowing on the pot.
If you are going to do a lot of spraying contact me directly and I will give
you some part numbers for Binks equipment that are made of better metals and
don't wear out easily.
