Dear C.T.....now I'm curious....why not? I do, in fact, and just had an
order for 6 white mugs with green band. Is it because any crazing will be
obvious?

Among my favourite 'Mugs' of all time, are some of those
made for the restaurant trades, and general use in the mid
and latter 19th Cent...many of which...were 'white'...

Similarly of 18th. Cent. 'Mugs' in many cases...about as
'perfect'...as perfect can get.

Potters do not tend, so far as I have seen, to any longer
make such shapes as these had been.

Maybe what Mr. Wagoner almost meant to say, but had not
though of to say, is that the Glaze may be in some
defference not only to the 'shape' of a Ceramic object...but
in that, to the intention for the mood of that shape, as a
Potter may wish realize...

Maybe that is what he was trying to think, and got a little
bit confused about...

That sounds neat....are you working on your M.F.A.?

Nope, what I meant to say was that there are no colors that should ever
been ruled out. No confusion....just humor to point out the fallacy of
overt glorified generalizations. Someone stated that if you put 1%
cobalt in any glaze it would be ugly. So, I said I was glad I didn't say
that mugs should never be white. I love white mugs and blue ones and
green ones and sand colored ones and ash glaze....love it all. (Of
course I am partial red/green color blind) Already got my M.F.A. and got
flamed big time when I posted my artist statement a couple of years ago.
Now I just make lots of pots in lots of colors! So now just tend to have
fun and kid around some.

See my blue pots at: www.abcs.com/cwag (Artist's statement is there to)

Potter Wagoner (not Porter Wagoner...although I do make pots while
wearing a sequin jacket)
