Patricia is right -- Linda Blossom's workshop was absolutely wonderful! And Lisa Skeen is a terrific hostess! If you get a chance to do workshops at Lisa's or workshops with Linda -- do it! Wonderful!
In class we were talking about clay shrinkage and calculations. I found on online proportion wheel for those of us that are mathmatically challenged at http://www.schmitzpress.com/proportionater.html . There are two ways to calculate the measurements -- the first is with the test bar, mark off a 100mm scale and see what it shrinks to when fired (use the first form to get your final per cent size -- NOT how much it shrunk -- that is, if your bar went from 100mm to 88 mm, then the bar is 88% of the original size -- it shrunk by 12% -- 100% minus 88%). (When you use the second form, if you put in your wet size and 88 in the percentage box, it will give you the dry size) (If you are putting in the dry size and need the wet size, it has to be 112% -- the 100% plus the difference from the shrinkage since wet is bigger than dry). It's obvious at 100mm, but if your finished piece needs to be a size that is not exactly 100 units its not so obvious how to arrive at the wet size calculation.
All you folks who are knowledgable about your math, please just smile wisely behind your hand and give us folks to whom numbers are a Greek mystery a break -- LOL! And thanks to Herb for his wonderful online math helper! Much appreciated!
Thanks again Lisa, Linda and Herb!

Holy cats, Deb! I can't even follow your explanation of how this shrink
thing works, much less figure it out myself I will defer to the Mfr.
for shrink rates I think.
Thanks for your kind comments. Linda was definitely a generous person with
her information and recipes, and a lot of fun.
