bailey st-200 foot pedal

i also love my new bailey and throw standing up. the
sciatica and lower back problems have lightened up
tremendously.(i previously was throwing on a kick
wheel)

does
anyone have any ideas about the best way to use the
foot pedal from a standing position. i am sitting
mine on a shelf about elbow height and reaching over
to work it with my right hand. this works o.k. but i
keep it covered with a plastic bag to prevent it from
soon becoming encased in clay from my muddy hands. the
bag seems to make the control of the pedal a bit
stiff.

i tend to put more weight on one foot than the other
while standing and feel that controlling the pedal
with my knee would only encourage that bad habit i am
trying to break. i was thinking something like a gear
shift on a car but was afraid i might void my warranty
if i starting drilling and such.

ideas anyone? thanks

Quite a few years ago I "temporarily" C clamped a 3 ft piece of angle iron
to my pedal and am still using it that way. The pedal sits on the floor, the
angle iron "handle" is in a very convenient position to control the wheel
speed while standing. You might also want to consider building a back and
butt pad John Glick pictured in Ceramics Mo. way back in the past. Helps
greatly.

hi ginny,

when i threw while standing, using my bailey, i leaned against a lower back
rest which was attached to the wall at the correct height to provide
support. i also had my husband make a wedge shaped block to place my left
foot on - it was the same shape as the foot pedal in the "off" position.
