My pottery guild's library had a mishap.. Apparently
it is under a bathroom in a public school system
building and the drains were clogged up by a
mischievous child..

Anyway there was major damage to a lot of books..
Unfortunately the person that was called to
"rescue" the books threw away the ones that
were horribly damaged, and some that were still use
able were put back on the shelf, and are not being
sent in for claim.. :( So, I have a small list of
books that were saved and are going to be reimbursed
to the guild.. I looked on many different book search
URLS and came up with some prices but they just dont
seem right...

Does anyone know what the value of these books are to
replace.. I might add one can not be replaced
completely and some simply may not be in print
anymore...

& New Visions"
Watson Guptill Pub. Date Unreadable post 1980 Hard
Cover

Michael Casson "The Craft of the Potter"
Barrons Educational Series, Inc./ BBC 1977 Paper
Back

Thanks for any info given on this issue.. Also
remember I would need someplace that I could print out
the dollar amount for our claim and/or a letter from a
book dealer to prove the value.. So, If you know of a
book dealer that would know the value that would be
extremely helpful too..

Anji,

I would suggest trying a couple of book search sites to compare the prices:
ABE.com (American Book Exchange) and AddAll Books. These two (and some
others like them) will typically carry out-of-print books offered by a
number of booksellers with the prices listed. That should give you an idea
of the value for replacement.

If you have to wait for money for book replacement, you will need to repeat
the search because the availability of the books changes when people buy
them.

Best of luck,

Dont know about any of the others, but Michael Casson, The Craft of the

One of the best written books for beginners EVER.

In the local bookshop in Durban there were two "new" pottery books: Michael
Casson's The Craft of the Potter, and Fournier's Dictionary......

Wonderful re-prints of the originals, with beautiful new covers and the
insides just wonderful.
