>> Sounds like the (in)famous Amaco wheel. They made them for a long
time. You could either set them on a table or buy the optional legs,
which you got, which makes them look really strange.
These wheels have two speeds: too slow for centering and too fast for
throwing. You move the toggle switch to go from 'off', to 'slow', to
'fast'. You will have fun with it, but I'd hate to give it to a beginner
and tell her to learn to throw. <
I have seven #1's and 3 #2's at school where my potters learn to throw
on them everyday. We have used them for 16 years. I use an Amaco #2 for
trimming at one of my shops. We also use a Brent CXC, Randall Kick
(motorized) and a Klopinstien for trimming at the other shop. I grew up
on an Amaco #1 maybe that is why I like it so much. The switch is kind
of a pain, but I think learning on a continuous speed wheel can be good.
If anyone has one to sell please contact me.
Thanks,
