glaze variations and envirovents

When I first got my vent, I followed the
instructions and drilled the lid vent holes about 6"
from the center of the lid. This caused air to hit the
pots directly under the holes and messed up the
glazes.
This could be the reason they recommended putting a
shelf above the pots. But you could just put the holes
at the edges of the lid so the draft won't hit any
pots. This is what I do and haven't had any problems
with glaze variation.
