Buonaiuto on thu 3 oct 02

Hi, I'm Shelley Buonaiuto, new to the list. Someone alerted me to it that my
work was the subject of a "pornography" discussion! and when I saw all the
technical expertise on it I decided to join...not to make porno...which I
don't think I ever did...just nudes.

Actually, quite suddenly I see that I need some help. I've never done much
glazing, since my pieces are high fire reduction stoneware and porcelain,
and the finish is the color of the clay. Now there is the possibility of a
commission for a sculpture relief splashboard for the back of a
cooktop...this obviously has to be glazed. I was going to use a cone 5 bmix
(half porcelain-half white stoneware) but am undecided about underglazes,
since I want something kind of subtle and soft, and also would like
suggestions on a good strong glaze that could work for a splashboard and at
the same time not be too glossy.

Any tile makers here who have some ideas?

Thanks,
Shelley
