Don't sell it...use it man!

Do you want some formulas? Great in the salt kiln as slip base!

several months ago I posted that I found some Albany Slip in the studio
and I
put it up for bid on the list. Not sure what would be a reasonable fee
to
charge I decided to call a few national distributors to see what they
would
charge. My first call was to Axner Supply down in Florida.
Lo and behold
(god I love that phrase!)
Axner Supply has 350 lbs. of the stuff. You do, however, have to buy it
in
50 lbs. bags.
so if you want real Albany Slip and you do decide to buy a 50lbs.spot
from
Axner do me a favor and send me a gentleman's finders fee if you're so
inclined.

Dear Potter:

I was given a modest amount of albany slip recently (about 10 lbs). I have
been firing at cone 6 electric but will be building a small hobby wood kiln
and a fibre propane reduction kiln next year. (We purchased a vacation lot
a couple of years ago and have been chopping trees to clear it for
building.)

How would you put a limited supply of albany slip to best use, for the
electric, wood or gas kiln?

Regards,

Albany Slip is a wonderful base for slips. We use it in the slips we put
on salt glaze ware. It also has wonderful quality of "bleeding through"
as the bottom glaze in double dipping. (test, test, test) But, if you
use it as a base for some slips it will last you a long time. Let me
know off list if you would like some of our formulas.
