Well goodness John, I certainly hope not. That is never the intent of
artist's statement. It has nothing to do with artspeak and intellectual
gymnastics. It is just a way to learn more about the artist and her/his
work.

Well you must not be reading many of the ones that I see hanging in
Galleries all over the country.
I do have a statement that is intended for galleries to promote my work,
it was written by a friend that does advertising and promotions kinds of
things. She interviewed me and wrote a statement. I then reviewed it
and made some suggestions then she re-wrote the statement, which I
approved. Of course, it is in plain language, but then I think of
myself as a potter.
