Not mould / mold, but efflorescence, soluble salts in the plaster migrating
to the surface, forming little crystals as the water dries. Since these
crystals are fragile and soluble, so you can wipe them away or sponge them
off, no problem.

I have a plaster bat I use for drying out used clay. Last time I took
clay off it I didn't put any more on, just sponged it off and left
it. Now, several days later, there's a 1/4-inch cloud of very fine
white stuff all around the edges. Is it mould? It has no smell. Is it
okay?
