Wait a minute. Yesterday someone had been talking Manganese, and Ron Roy
wrote and said he does not keep it in his studio. I think that is what he
said.

And then someone is suggesting that a manganese containing clay body, did i
hear clay body? should be used.

Am I losing my mind? I am convinced that to turn my hair white, brain cells
are being destroyed, so that as my hair whitens my brain weakens. However.

The blessed Monona writes that chronic inhalation can cause a Parkinson type
disease. And that it can cause metal fume fever and have adverse
reproductive effects. Yo!

Now we just had a long long discussion of clay dust in the studio and on
clothes.....And we have reason to believe that Hans Coper and David Shaner
died from too much manganese. Is there a manganese police out there that
knows and enforces manganese absorption? " Sorry, can't serve you more MnO2,
you've had enough!"

Yes, I use manganese. I have a dark blue slip I use for trailing and such
like and it has some manganese in it, and I mix and sieve it with rubber
gloves on, and use it bare handed only when I am actully using the trailer.
Also I am elderly and if I want to remove toast from the toaster with a
metal knitting needle, that is perfectly ok, BUT NOT A RECOMMENDATION, NOT
FOR THE YOUNG.

Chris: I suspect you could get a body that has no manganese, and if you
can't do find out how much is in there. I also suspect, but there I am
totally GUESSING that a slip might work as well, and I imagine be safer. A
gallon of slip would contain less Mno2 than clay that is trimmed etc.
