Kay Howard & Phil Chaban on wed 23 oct 02
I'm a little late participating in this thread--but here goes anyway. =
I've had a 24" nssr for about 5-6 years and it is my main tool. This is =
not the heaviest-duty model! Phil, "the engineer" tinkered with it and =
devised a pulley arrangement so that I only have to adjust one side. =
(Maybe the new ones are linked so that both sides adjust together? If =
so, ignore.) If anyone wants instructions, I'm sure he would oblige. =
Especially for the bi-focal crowd, this is a real blessing. He also =
built two 5-foot long tables so that I can roll out 5 foot long slabs. =
When he called the NS people with a question and described how we were =
using this roller, the response was "but, you can't so that!" In other =
words we were giving this machine more of a workout than it was supposed =
to get! It continues just fine. Squeeks a little, but I would, too, to =
work that hard. I use the wagon-wheel handle and like it, so can't =
speak about the other. The only problem I have is that occasional wrist =
pain makes flipping a 5-foot slab a little tricky! It's also the reason =
that I probably won't buy a wider roller.
Cheers
