Believe it or not we did not have a drop of rain today in Gruene Texas. A
little cool though. Tremendous attendance. I was set up next to David
Hendley and Randy Brodnax. Only those who know David and Randy will
understand the crazy goings on. Every potter and their family and friends
got together for dinner afterwards. David Hendley presented the core group
of 6 festival organizers the "Golden Wedgie" award for this the tenth year
of the Texas Clay Festival. David personally created out of extruded clay
this trophy base topped with a golden spiral wedge of clay on top.
Outstanding.
Randy Brodnax had the huge crowd howling with laughter during his Raku
demonstrations with Billy Ray Mangham.
Everyone of the clay artists in attendance sold some incredibly beautiful
claywork of every description. There were 4 separate around the clock
demonstration areas including handbuilding inside the pottery studio of Dee
and Terry Buck.
I will take my digital camera tomorrow and see if I can capture some of the
flavor of the festival.
Right now my feet are killing me, heading for a hot soak in the tub with a
glass of Merlot. The extra hour tonight will also help.

Since texas seems to be having monsoons this week
(it's rained continuously since last saturday) and
the weather channel says 70% chance of rain in Gruene
for today and @ chance for tomorrow (and it's a three hour
drive) does anyone know what they do about rain at the
festival? will they still have it? on the web page it looks
like it is mostly setup outside....

thanks!

Connie
