I am wondering if adding a bit of glycerin to the bucket of slip I use for
throwing would be a good idea.

I imagine that would be a fine idea...
It has "penetrative" qualities too
besides lubricating etc. so.. ya, try it.
It would then work its way into your body
when recycling your trimmings, dense slip, scraps etc.
Which is so easy to process...
just bag it with a little excess water
wedge on plaster bat to consistancy
after letting it sit for bit.
