Does anyone know where to have chemical ananlysis done on glaze materials,
and how much it costs? I want to find out the composition of a local clay
that i use as a basis for slip glazes, so as to come up with a formula.
Thanks.

Talk to Tony Hansen at www.Digitalfire.com. He gave me several places a long
time ago. I used the one in Pittsburgh, but I do not remember their name.
Prices seemed fair and it didn't take too long.

Do a web search for the name ALS Chemex. They do samples by the XRF method
which gives bulk chemistry. The mineralogy as I understand it is gotten by
x-ray diffraction, a different process. Cost was $25 lab fee plus $20/
sample so save up samples or go together with others in your area to get the
samples done all at the same time for best economy.
