I conversed with Susan Beecher the other day about an idea that I thought=
would be good.
My goal in asking fellow potters on CLAYART (and elsewhere) to donate
anything they could afford to help bolster her legal defense expenses was=
to raise as much as possible. But then I thought about the situation if =
we
actually raised MORE than was needed. (I can dream can't I?) What a
logistic nightmare it would be getting the correct portion back to each
contributor! =
So I came up with the idea of just donating any excess funds to the Craft=
Emergency Relief Fund. I conversed with Susan about this possibility, a=
nd
she was THRILLED with that approach.
So............ any money left over from your donations that is not consum=
ed
in fighting Mr. Middleton's attack on her pottery studio will be donatred=
by her and her lawyer to CERF. Hopefully there will BE funds left over t=
o
donate to CERF!
Thanks again for your help with this thorny mess.
Once again donations.........none are too small....... can be made out to=
and sent to:

Please indicate on the note line of the check that it is for the "Susan
Beecher Legal
Defense Fund"
My "thanks" to the many who have told me they have donated.
Best,

John,
I think your idea is grand about leftover funds (if any) going to CERF. CERF
is a fine organization and I have been an annual donor to their cause for a
number of years now. I hope I don't ever have to place that call asking for
their help, but it's nice to know that they are there in the event of a
catastrophe.
Also, I have put in the mail today a check today to Susan Beecher's Attorney
for her legal defense fund of $20.00, along with a letter to her attorney. I
hope others try and donate what they can, if they can... as I believe this
case could have a real impact on all of us. I wish Ms. Beecher all the best
in fighting Mr. Middleton and his band of politicians and lawyers.
Best regards,
Ken

Hi John,
Have been intending to drop you a note thanking you for not only doing so
much research and taking what must have been an emormous amount of time to
writet up this situation so clearly and compellingly, but then also to
calmlyanswer/fend off the range of replies and misunderstandings.
When I do my bills later this week, I will definitely be sending a
contribution and note, and I think your CERF idea is a stroke of...well,
genius.
So, thanks again. You represent the best of Clayart, and, for that matter,
the best of any sort of computer/internet activity.
---Sincerely, Gail
