Randy

It has been a long year, and no pottery being fired in the interim, but I
would never have posted that long message, if I hadn't had a post from Rob
Haugen of Olympic kiln asking me to 'tell the whole story'.
I wrote up the information and sent it to him, asking if he still wanted me
to post it and he replied that it was certainly a more accurate account, and
to post it if I liked.

I have included to messages from him below, but I hasten to add that apart
from the $500. USD mentioned, the rest of the $2000 must be replacement
elements and shipping. The 'restraints' mentioned include using fibre in the
door and roof of the kiln to prevent the major cracking that was occurring
in the kiln. I insisted on ITC coating of the fibre.
The first message:
DEAR ANN,
I AM SORRY ABOUT THE PROBLEMS THAT YOU HAVE HAD WITH YOUR OLYMPIC KILN. I
DO FEEL THAT OLYMPIC KILNS HAS BENT OVER BACKWARDS TRYING TO SATISFY YOU.
THE FIRST KILN WAS REPLACED AT NO CHARGE TO YOU (AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN).
OLYMPIC HAS PAID OVER $2000.00 U.S.F. TO TRY TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEMS WITH
THE FIRST KILN. THE SECOND KILN WAS SMALL DUE TO RESTRAINTS IMPOSED BY
PLAINSMAN CLAYS. YOU WERE GIVEN THE OPTION OF ANOTHER KILN OR COMPENSATION
FOR THE SMALLER SIZE AND YOU CHOOSE THE COMPENSATION. OLYMPIC KILNS IS OUT
AS MUCH MONEY AS WE WERE PAID FOR THE ORIGINAL KILN, YOUR SATISFACTION IS
IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO US THAT WE HAVE TRIED VERY HARD TO MAKE THE SITUATION
RIGHT. I AM SINCERELY SORRY FOR THE PROBLEMS THAT YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH
YOUR KILN, BUT I DO THINK THAT YOU OWE SOME CREDIT TO OLYMPIC FOR MAKING THE
SITUATION RIGHT. WHEN YOU ARE POSTING ON CLAYART I THINK THAT YOU NEED TO
TELL THE WHOLE STORY.
(no signature, but it came from Rob Haugen's email address)

The second message:
Ann,
I apologize for sending you two email messages. The first one said there
was an error in sending and I could not locate the original, so I rewrote
the email. You may post that if you would like, it is certainly a more
accurate account. I am sorry that this has taken so long to get resolved,
but I hope that you are now satisfied.

And that's it, case closed. I'm firing the .... out of it and it's doing
fine so far.
