raku glaze problem again- apology to tom buck

I apologize to Tom Buck for any interpretation of my comments that would lead
to anyone thinking I am questioning Tom's skill in glazes or as a potter in
general. I find his knowledge and writings to be exceptional and a service to
the ceramics community.
My quibble is with the Copper Matt glaze and the disservice the use of this
glaze does to the pottery community in general. People who buy a pot only to
have the glaze turn brown in a couple of years will be reluctant to trust
handmade pottery in the future. I make my living doing art shows and over the
years have had many people ask if I would refire Copper Matt pieces. I tell
them to go back to the potter that made the piece.
I guess what I am trying to say is that if there really is a Copper Matt that
will hold over time it should be published , tested and then widely adopted
for the good of the potter community.
Again- my most sincere apologies to Tom for any interpretations of my posting
that would lead anyone to think that I don't profoundly respect his skills
and knowledge as a potter.

I quit using copper matt some time ago for these reasons. If there is a
stable copper matt I might try it again.

La Pine Oregon, where we got first snow today. Sure is pretty, damn it.
Snow shovels hurt bad, and makes driving hard. But my raku comes out best
in the cold. Go figure.
