I think the deal with cow pies is the large amount of organic matter (grass,
hay, etc.) in them, and maybe even the fact that the cows run all that stuff
through four (?) stomachs, so it's WELL digested. I would think that horse
pies would be the next closest, but that's probably out for those potters.
Chicken (aged) is great for gardens, but maybe awfully rich for
firing---mega nitrogen. I think human dung would have to be mixed with
straw or something---I don't even want to think about it! What is needed is
a cow-pie co-op----or a group in one of the cattle raising states/provinces
to start up a business and export it to where the potters are . I
actually thought Melinda Collins' idea had merit, and great possibilities!
