You can hire it done by professionals for fairly
reasonable prices. For small occasional jobs, though,
you might look into the little 'touch-up' handheld
sandblaster guns. They hook up to a standard air
compressor, and look a bit like a paint sprayer with
a bag (for the abrasive) on the bottom instead of a
reservoir can. You can get a cheap one at Harbor
Freight for about $15. Easy to use, and good enough
for a first round of experiments. I wouldn't buy
more elaborate equipment 'til you find out if you
like the effect.

I'm interested in sandblasting some pots to weather and
etch them...and also to get off some failed terra sig.

Does any body have suggestions as to (fairly cheap) equipment?

I know there is siphon feed and pressure feed equipment,
but that's about it, and I've checked the archives to find
that the use of such equipment is mentioned, but not what it
is and where to get it, or what you need to use it.

hi ted,

just a fast note.... i bought a M.I.T. gun, i think for well less
than $20, from Axner for spraying ITC. it will really BLAST
up a storm and i can see it drawing up fine sand easily in or
out of water (but only tried with ITC so far). anyway it is Axner
so i suspect you can talk to them about your use.

......and you can use it to ITC some shorts a great christmas gift
for the "real potter" types in your life? :)

best,
