Is anyone out there thinking about those of us who live in Europe getting
together for a Clayart Europe meeting? I live near Frankfurt, Germany and
would love to be able to meet other Clayarters from Europe. Kenn(Clayart
lurker/Kalkplatz lurker)

Lucky you, Kenn! I lived in Wiesbaden for some years and it is a great area
to live! As for a European Clay Art Convention, why not come over to
Aberystwyth next year? We could have a Clay Art Corner at the very least!
Aberystwyth is organised jointly by North and South Wales Potters, with the
support of the University of Wales... It is a tremendous week-end with lots
of interesting demos, talks, lectures, etc. Living legends like Mick &
Sheila Casson, Ray Finch, Frank and Janet Hamer all just other potters on
the prowl... Accessible and friendly. But you need to book a place soon...
They are usually sold out of tickets months in advance.

Sincerely

Janet Kaiser

Very good idea Janet!

I remember last year you were introducing me to fellow Clayarters, I was a
very newbie then. So Clayarters do make the journey over here, and wouldn't
it be wonderful for us all to meet up!? Avril will be there, I will be , and
Janet too, no doubt.
Avril is a member of South Wales Potters, (and North Wales Potters too, as
soon as I get her
details to our membership secretary) and I'm a member of
North Wales Potters. It may be too late to organise a
room - but I'm sure we could find a corner, even informally, to meet. And
wouldn't it be great if we could all identify ourselves as Clayarters in the
crowds? Anybody up for it?

The tickets are not for sale yet, so I'm told, but both Avril and I are
keeping our ears to the ground - so should be able to report to the list
when they are. This should be in December. Also campus accomodation is
available at reasonable rates,
only a short walk away from the Arts Centre site. It's basic but clean and,
to be honest, better than I'd expected. The communal kitchens/diners are
nice places to meet other clay people, and I met some really nice people
last year.

Its a wonderful weekend that I wouldn't miss, the highlight of the Ceramic
year in Wales (do we have a ceramic year? Well, you know what I mean).
If you want to see what it's all about, visit the website at
