I was wondering for those of us who are in cold climates, what type of
heat people are using in their studios? I am just finishing up building
my studio and now the issue of how to heat it needs to be researched. I
have an oil painter friend who suggested kerosene heat, however I am
curious what others are using.

Ilene, you don't say what type of fuel is available to you. My first studio
did,'t have a gas line to it so I did use kerosene It did get it warm but
had to worry about frozen clay and glazes when I turned it off at night (
including the pots I had thrown.
In this house the studio has a gas line so I ran a gas hot air heat unit
( a wall unit) that keeps the studio very comfy and thermostatically
controlled. Let it drop to 55 at night, then pop in early on a day I plan to
work ou there and turn the heat up for a bit before going in. I do use
drying cabnets or cover large pieces as a matter of habit. Works out well
for me

Ilene,
I also just finished building my studio, and I put in a woodstove. It takes
up a bit of room, but what nice heat! I think that once I get my propane
tank delivered for the kiln, I will also put in a small propane space heater
for the studio, for those freezing nights, when I don't want to babysit the
fire in the woodstove.
