Hello Clayarters,

Angela Mellor (English born, lives in Australia)
http://www.angelamellor.com.au/
Translucent slip cast Bone China with Paper Clay. "The Arctic Light
series is (...) inspired by the stark beauty of Antarctica." Fragments
of textures made from paperclay have been incorporated into her pieces
to accentuate their translucency, with delicate colour using nitrates,
soluble colourants, as written about by the Norwegian Arne Ase:
("Watercolour on Porcelain") and by the work of Les Blakebrough.
Browse or read the articles too, for great images, some not included in
the thumbnails on home page, and some images in larger format. Be
prepared for a surprise!

Graham Hay (Australia)
http://www.grahamhay.com.au/
Re: Paperclay, Australian style...
Hay works sculpturally with recycled paper, with or without the
incorporation of clay.
I believe I have referred to Graham Hay's site some time ago, but it has
been added to since then, and is absolutely worth another visit.
Click on "Paperclay Information", click on "artists"; click on images to
enlarge; click on text for e-mail or for more images.

Kate Mellors (UK)
http://www.mellors-ceramics.co.uk/
A similar last name to Angela's, and a sister ceramicist. Her use of
colour is equally restrained, but deep-toned and strong. From there the
similarity stops, other than the obvious professionalism of both of
these women. Kate makes garden pottery such as planters, lanterns, and
stools.

Robert Brady
http://www.johnelder.com/johnstest/Exhibits/brady-98.htm
Robert Brady cycles between non-representational and
representational forms, between clay and wood.
Note: when surfing the John Elder site using an older browser such
as Netscape 4.7, -Do Not- click on "Exhibitions" link - it crashes the
program every time when I do. The "Gallery" and "Artists" links
function
OK in NS 4.7, and the "Exhibitions" link works fine in newer browsers
like NS 7.0 and IE 6.0.
Another problem is that the thumbnail links to large images are
non-functional (they are mis-named in the html script), but in Netscape,
r
unning on a PC, you can right click on an image and left select "View
Image".
Use the "Back" button to return to main page.
In IE with PC's, click with the right mouse button, select "properties",
highlight the url, right click, select "Copy" then paste that into the
browser location window.
This is an awkward workaround, but it lets you see the larger images
that are filed on site. More on Robert Brady here (and probably more in
the "Exhibitions" section which is divided into years you can click on,
if you have an up-to-date browser.

Joel Kevin Coffee
http://www.coffeepotter.com/index.htm >
> Kevin Coffee is an Oklahoma native living and working in New York City.

Annabeth Rosen
http://www.traxgallery.com/Rosen.html
Annabeth makes her spiky bowls by "pounding huge blocks of soft red clay
into
shape." (Then she coats them in white slip and clear glazes them.)

Karen Winograde (Napa Valley, CA, USA)
http://www.napanet.net/~kwino
Salt glazing is a specialty with this long-established potter. She also
adds
granite to some pieces, and fires with wood.
I'm sorry there aren't more images of Karen's work on her site.
