call for entries: 2004 calendar

Lisa--

I like the font on the dates too, it's cute, but Bruce is right,
it's not easy to see at 3-4 feet away. Maybe you could just bold it a
bit.

And I don't like the artist description font either. There are
actually too many different fonts in the whole thing, fonts are fun
to play with but I rarely use more than two different ones on a job.
Although I've never done a calendar, just books and ads for
newspapers & magazines. This is your project but if you need some
feedback as you're working on it I'd be happy to give you some. You
can ignore it, I'm used to it.

Wow, we better start making some new pots!

I take it the calendars sold well. You did a great job Lisa. Thanks.

If I may offer a suggestion for next year (and I hope it isn't heard as a
complaint, because I really do appreciate the kind of work that goes into a
project like this): I find the font used for the dates difficult to read.
You have to be really close to the calendar to see it clearly. This is a
combination of my aging eyes, the thinness of the font and the "curliness"
of the font. May I suggest the use of a heavier, more traditional font?

P.S. We have sent all of ours out and everyone loves them!

Bruce,
I like the font on the dates but not on the artist description part, and
prolly both will be changed next year, if only to keep the look fresh. :)

Tanks for theinput. :)

hmmmmm it occurs to me that some of you may not have the means to scan
your slides or negatives easily - I happen to be lucky enough to have
quite a lot of nice computer gear at my disposal, including a Nikon
4000dpi film/slide scanner. If you would like me to scan your slides or
negatives and burn a CD for this pop me an email. I am thinking about
starting to do this as a business sideline (I was laid off from my high
tech job recently) and I am curious as to how much interest there is
out there. For clayarters for the calendar I would do it for the price
of materials (CD-R) and postage and some small fee - if you are in the
Seattle area maybe a bottle of wine ;-)

Cheers!

PS- The reason I am up so late (early?) is I went with my daughter and a
friend to the 12:01 showing of the Lord of the Rings - Two Towers.
Thumbs up from me - and worth seeing on a big screen with good sound and
hopefully comfy seats (it is 3 hours long!)
