Wow. Simple and elegant. In the illustration it looks like the
un-attached fingers are steadying the plate. But then I think, "Why
the tongs?" So I'm guessing that the fingers are extended; just not
touching anything. So why not 2 two-pronged tongs? Would it not be
more stable? (Yes, it's one more contact point, I know, but that
would get touched up like a 3-point contact.)

Yes, those the glazing tongs that Lili sent me. They were fabulous on my
plates--where I used them on separate hands with thumbs on the foot ring. I
think they are the cleverest things! Have not mastered them on bowls--I
have trouble getting the inside bottom of the bowl covered--but I'm working
on it. Lili made mine by using coat hanger wire! Gay Judson
