Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone out there knows of a 'mid-fire' range, (cone 6) glaze
that would 'texture and crack' like the 'Arroyo White', low-fire glaze...???
Or, of a glaze that would produce the same effect or anything remotely
similar...???
Also, anyone know where I can find the glaze 'Sardonyx'....??? (The Clay
Factory in Florida went out of business who used to sell Sardonyx - can't
find it anymore...)
Thanks for your help.

Here's a simple one to try.... it is not white like arroyo but will give
a lichen/crackle effct... the 'chips' or 'flakes' are hard and durable
and matte, but there is usually a shiny surface 'underneath' the
crackles.......This is an odd one, but it is kind of fun to play with.
I have pots 15 years old with desert wash on them , and it has held up
well.
The size of the crackle varies VERY much depending on the thickness and
the color varies depending on the clay body underneath... also one can
try different additives to affect color, etc. This is from a Ceramics
Monthly , I think, at least a decade old, maybe 2.... I did not write
down the article or source at the time
