nursery monitor for kiln

I use a nursery monitor to keep track of things when I am in the house.
I can hear the hum of the cycling, the pop when the sitter cone bends
and I have to go out and slow cool... also occasionally hear something
blow up (student work)... you can find them at goodwill or salvation
army, garage sales, or resale kids shops for really cheap. Some have a
transmitter unit that plugs in at the source, and a battery/ac unit you
can clip on your pocket. I have one in my studio for times when I run
out to quickly do something in the afternoon, so I can hear the
kids/phone/doorbell in the house.

I plan to upgrade to an intercom soon for the studio... so I can answer
questions. But the nursery monitor is all I need to hear the kiln. I
don't ever have to tell it to stop jumping on the couch...

Yours, Kelly
