Just got an AIC oxygen probe, but I am not sure how to
use the attached air hose and bulb. There is no
mention of this in the instructions. Can anyone tell
me how to use this attachment during the firing?

I pretty much didn't bother with it. (the rubber ball and tube with the
probe) It really didn't seem necessary.

Use the air bulb to refresh the ambient air inside the probe, to assure
an accurate reading. Very occasionally, a bug will crawl down the tube
inside and contribute its carbon to the reading. The air bulb is said
to refresh this ambient air.

Check out this site. gives a good explaination of the workings of
an oxy probe.

Just thought I'd drop in a note here:

The most recent issue of the Oz magazine Ceramics Technical contains an
article dealing with the OxyProbe. If you are already familiar with the
OxyProbe, then there's nothing really new in the article, but if you are
unfamiliar with it you might try to find a copy of the magazine.
