I believe I am very late in this discussion, but this is what I have. I =
do not know now if you are looking for cone 6, gloss or matt. Most of =
my straws are matte.
Lily has the best idea to use a base you are happy with and try =
coloring it. That is what I spend about 25% of my studio life doing. In =
addition to combinations of Rutile, RIO and opacifiers, I have colored =
many bases with Ochre, my favorite colorant. Favorite because I can =
scrape off the rocks on the beach and it makes this ex city mouse feel =
rustic. Back to recipes.
However, these are recipes I like for Straw colors, including one called =
Straw. All in the archives, but it is the giving season again. These =
are cone 6, ox. and redux.

My result was a semi gloss with greenish pooling. However, I would
like to try it with some Rutile and opacifier to see if it gets more =
straw like.

Similar to above glaze, add different combinations of

I am assuming the last material in this glaze is silica - the expansion
calculates very low - and with amounts of Lithium over 2% there is a chance
this glaze will shiver on some clay bodies - test well before assuming
there is not a problem.

I am totally with the people who want to replace boring old FLINT with
FLINGS! And Ron no doubt is right that too many flings can damage pots.
However: a note. It seems to me that several straw recipes I have come
across involve iron oxide (pure, in rutile, in ochre) and a teensy weensy
bit of copper. NB: straw as distinguished from yellow appears to "want"that
modifying bit of copper carb.
