Dear Linda Blossom,
I cannot afford one of those devices but I am aware of the principle by =
which they work.
A flow of electrons commences above a certain temperature when there is =
a different Oxygen concentration on each side of the Sensor unit. You =
measure the flow of electrons with your meter and convert it to an =
assessment of the degree of reduction taking place.
If the oxygen on the airward side is depleted through some cause then =
you will get a false reading. You rely on having very little oxygen in =
the kiln and the usual 20% in the air outside the kiln, represented by =
the outer face of the sensing unit. Perhaps air has to be blown into the =
tube to ensure this. So they supply the bulb and tubes.
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis
