Clay Urls Mid Sept 02 - Sep 14 #2 - submitted to Clayart Jan 1 03

Arne Handley (Alberta, Canada)

Duncan Ross (Surrey, England, UK)
http://duncanrossceramics.co.uk/
Terra-Sigillata Ceramics
"My work is thrown and burnished using many layers of a fine terra-sigillata
slip with resist and inlay decoration. Colours are achieved by smoke firing,
and the decoration is developed from many sources including textiles and
geometric motifs." Images can be enlarged twice. Gorgeous!

Kathy Ruttenberg (perhaps lives in or near Kent, CT, USA) (Works only in Netscape)
http://www.kathyruttenberg.com/1.html
Figural sculptures in clay.
The basic url (below) does not load in older versions of Netscape such as ver 4.73.
The internal pages are fine in this version however (I use Ver. 6),
so many of you will not see this artist's work, as the images don't load.
Too bad, because it's prolific, colourful, and emotionally powerful.
The site works just fine in Netscape 7.0, so maybe it's time to download this free browser.

Kathy Ruttenberg (USA)
http://www.kathyruttenberg.com/1.html
Large figural sculptures in clay.
Oddly, this site does not work properly in Internet Explorer.
Only the basic page opens properly in IE, at least in Ver. 6, so many of you
will not see this artist's work, because the images don't load.
This is too bad, because her work is prolific, colourful, and emotionally powerful.
Note also that the basic url (below) does not load in older versions of Netscape,
such as ver 4.73, but the internal pages are fine. The site is fine in Netscape 7.0.

Tokheim Pottery
http://www.tokheim-stoneware.com/
Scandinavian stoneware pottery in Minnesota!
Traditional motifs, fine forms, careful work

Christine-Ann Richards
http://www.christineannrichards.co.uk/index.htm
Exterior works and thrown porcelain.
Builds tall pieces partially inside electric kiln, adding kiln rings when necessary
as the height of the piece achieved.
When viewing pages, use number index below pieces to move through site.
Clicking on thumbnails (already medium-sized) will load a second page
with a really large image and great detail.
In Netscape 7.0 you have to look for the icon for the new page on your task bar,
because it seems to load "behind" the original page.
In Netscape 4.3 the large images don't load, sorry! (You can still view the medium sized "thumbnails."

Bruce Chivers (born Australia, resides Dunsford, Devon, England, UK)
http://www.sooz.co.uk/cgi-bin/webdata_artists.pl?fid=981111788&query=pagenum%3D1%26cgifunction%3DSearch&cgifunction=form
High fired porcelain utilising carefully controlled crazing glazes and porcelain Raku
Fascinating glaze work with the Raku pieces.
Some of his purely sculptural forms seem to have been at least somewhat inspired by Hans
Coper's work, and some of the vessels show, to my mind, the influence of Lucie Rie.

Medicine Hat Brick and Tile (Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada)
http://www.sindelarandobrien.com/medicinehat/medicinehat.htm
An advertising/promotion item for an old Canadian pottery in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada
