Hello:

I finally purchased a Kilm made by Skutt Style # KM1018 for personal use. Could you please recommend a book or site that could help me start firing since I have never done it. I take pottery classes and I would like to fire my own stuff.

Thanks, Ronnie

"Electric Kiln Ceramics" by Richard Zakin, and "Mastering Cone 6 Glazes"
(whether you intend to fire to that temperature or not) by John
Hesselberth and Ron Roy are both great books.

"Electric Kiln Ceramics" is a good place to start. Lots of tips,
tricks and inspiration for electric firers.

Also, read your kiln manual!! It's so important to know the basics of
firing your kiln correctly. Once you have that down, you can begin
learning how to fire your kiln in order to get the specific results
you want for your type of ware.

Another good one is Ron & John's "Mastering Cone 6 Glazes". Yes, it's
about glazes, but its also about how to get the most out of your
glazes and firings. Lots and lots of information how to get the
results you want out of your kiln.
