I previously posted the address for the British Museum and recommended =
typing in the word pottery in the search box; that address brought =
several WOWS from fellow claybuds. I have others that I've discovered =
that I equally love. These include the Metropolitan Museum. Go to the =
following address:
http://www.metmuseum.org/collections/index.asp?HomePageLink=3Dcollections=
_l
You will find a whole list of collections; pick one and double tap. Look =
to the top of the page that comes up; most but not all will allow you to =
call up 50 thumbnails; these are very high quality pictures much like =
the British Museum whose address I'll repeat:
http://www.thebritishmuseum.ac.uk/compass/ixbin/hixclient.exe?_IXDB_=3Dco=
mpass&search-form=3Dgraphical/main.html&submit-button=3Dsearch
Tap on the search button and type in pottery; hundreds of images and =
descriptions.
A third site entitled art history resources on the web may be the most =
comprehensive. It contains among other things good quality painting =
reproductions from most of the masters in addition to prehistoric and =
early historic works of art. My wife loves Chagall and she goggled eyed =
over the reproductions of his that are available on this site - =
litterally dozens. This site is so comprehensive that after some weeks, =
I'm still floundering. The worst thing about these sites is that it =
makes you want to just sit at the computer. The address for the last =
referenced site is as follows:
http://witcombe.sbc.edu/ARTHLinks.html
Hope these sites please all as much as me.
