merchant fees wasre: credit card discount for my account?

My banker husband says you should contact Visa & Master Card to tell them
what the galleries are doing. The merchant fee is supposed to be just that,
a fee the merchant pays for the privilage of letting his/her customers use a
credit card. Now, saying that, sharp operators the world over ignore what
they should do, and do what they want to do until caught. In my part of the
world, one gets the price agreed upon first before pulling out the credit
card; let the merchant think cash until it's too late for him to add 3%.
Best regards,

Ahhh what a privilage. They handle your charged items for the tiny profit of
a healthy percentage, plus certain amount for each sale, plus batching, plus
monthly "maintenance" fee plus a "minimum" monthly charge. and, a machine
rental of some type if you use one and paper sales, etc.
(note: these items/costs are different for everyone)
and,
When one of their bank card charges bounce (denied) they do nothing to help
you get ahold of the person holding the card. Privacy you know!!
and
They do all this for the privilage of also making money off my savings
account, checking account, business checking account, CD's, home loans, car
loans, etc.
Those banks...what great people.

Ah Carol,
I'll bet they love you. I'll bet you haggle their price down on products
then after they give you a nice discount you hand them a credit card which
costs them another 5% ON TOP OF the discount they gave you because you were
so nice.

Dale

For those who need to accept credit card sales. go to
http://www.discoverbiz.com they have no contract, no minimum, just a per
transaction fee and percentage (that I personally find reasonable) you
also can do all of it on the phone and internet.
I have no connection to them except that I liked how easy it was to set up
the account and no strings attached.
This is for Visa/mastercard. If you want to accept discover and american
express there might be other steps.

Actually, Dale, I was simply telling the Clayarter who asked about being hit
by her galleries for the merchants fee what to do about it.
Don't you waste your time feeling sorry for the rip-off merchants of Dubai.
They give no quarter. I automatically get the "honkey" price added on when
I walk in the door.
