not suggesting that it has not been done before.
bill jones found the plans for a kiln like this in a
1930's ceramic report from acers. the idea, in
most cases, had been dropped from the general
construction technique found for most kilns.

i know that donovan palmquist was working on
the same idea, same kiln, as nils, at the same
time....they laughed when they showed each other
the idea at nceca last year.

as i love to say, so many kiln ideas, so many brick, so
many burners.....just need some more money and new
brick. (when we built bill's kiln in denver this fall i realized
that i have not built many kilns with `everything new`...it
is really nice.) the bricks piled up in my kiln room are mostly
40 years old. they have been four different kilns. the kiln
that they are now is really nice. i bought two cases of k26 bricks
for my door about three years ago. most of them have already cracked
in two or three. have gone back to the brick i bought in 1960...they
are perfect. but, for sure, building a new kiln with all new
materials is really nice.
